Last week me and my hubby decided to get our dinner at Lucky Garden Bangsar, a new area for us since we have just moved to our own place in Kg Kerinchi. It was the back way to go to Bangsar Village through Pantai Medical and University Malaya. I always saw the area which at first I did not know that it is known as Lucky Garden and longed for wondering around the shoplots as well as to have a look if there is any good place to eat. So when Mr Calum, my hubby asked me where should we go for our dinner on that night I quickly suggested to try that area Lucky Garden before he changed his mind to go somehwere else.
We were quite impressed with the place, how busy it was and lots of good shops as well as nice bakery (Baker's Cottage). We were at first not sure what to get and drove around till we saw this one area where there is a row of stalls that comprise of Tomyam (Malay), Indian (Roti) and a couple more indians for vegetarian and kandar. We decided to try that area when we saw the place was jam packed with lots of people who looked so intensed and occupied with their food and drinks. We had to park the car quite far from the place as it was busy and crowded.
We sat at the Tomyam place and ordered some fried rice, satay and beef soup. I was quite keen to try the indian with the roti place when I saw a few people eating Appam Manis and it was so mouthwatering. My hubby was so excited when he saw a big selection of kuih such as spring rolls (his all time favourite) Curry puff, tauhu sumbat and pulut inti (his new favourite kuih at the moment). We took a few selection of kuih and to my suprise the spring rolls and the pulut inti were so delicious and fresh. There were still warm as if there were just been cooked and the pulut as well as the kelapa were so fresh and sweet. The spring rolls were crispy and the vegetables were so fresh.
Our moment of truth came when we tried the appam manis. OH MY GOD!!!! The Appam Manis tasted so like the one that my mum made. It was crispy at the edge and soft and sweet in the middle. The appam manis was put in a tiny wok which was perfect for the size. I was so intoxicated with the appam manis; the tingling sensation of the sweet brown sugar and the crispiness of the appam manis had blown my mind away. I was in my own world for 5 second, it really reminded me of my childhood memory when my mum used to make it along with Nasi Lemak to put at the stalls for selling. My hubby and my sister agreed with me when I said the appam manis was really delicious.
The fried rice and satay did not disappoint us too. There were really yummy and good, we enjoyed the whole lot of our dinner. But I must say that Appam Manis that night was the centre of discussion and we enjoyed it a lot.
The Appam Manis has stolen my heart and I will definitely be the most regular visitor whenever I have a chance to go there.
