Out of Africa

It has been a while I have not been updating my blog with the latest eating out places as I have been busy with personal and work related assignment. Anyway, I shall start my first blog entry for 2010 with outstanding and great comments of this one place that me and my hubby were meant to go ages ago but we only managed to do that last December together to celebrate our anniversary.

My hubby surprised me by taking me to the restaurant. I was so excited when I saw the place and eager to check the menu and place the order. The ambiance of the place is superb and cosy. It is neither too posh nor too simple. I like the interior design where they put some African decorations as well as zebra skin on the wall. I immediately settle down and get comfy with less problem.

We browsed the menu and I was not sure what I wanted to have as all the menu looks really good and scrumptious. We took almost 20 minutes to decide what we wanted to have and read every single description of the food in case if we missed any restaurant speciality. After taking for quite some time looking at the menu we finally made up our mind on what to have for the night. I asked for Ostrich Schnitzel (Ostrich escalope bread crumbed & lightly fried served with peri-peri gratinated with cheese) and my hubby had asked for Braaied Boerewors (South Africa's most famous food - farmer sausage skillfully made from
minced lamb and beef and carefully selected South African spices,
cooked over the coals and served with our Peri-Peri sauce)
. We agreed to pass the appetiser as we saw a good range of selection for the desserts.

It didn't take that long for us to wait for the main course to come. We were so delighted to see our food served in front of us. The ostrich looks and tastes superb, every single bite gave me a tingling sensation of the peri2 sauce and melted cheese. My husband enjoyed his sausage very much and he cannot stop admiring the good quality of the sausage while eating it. The portion of food is generous and filling. I ended up not able to finish my food and needed my husband (as usual) to help me to finish it. It was really astonishing and exhilarating meals.

We did not wait long to order our dessert after the main course. I asked for African Queen (Chocoholics Special! Dark chocolate filed with cherries, nuts and biscuits
served with freshly whipped cream)
and my husband had asked for Cape Brandy Pudding (A favourite Cape classic. A delicious date cake topped with walnuts drenched
with brandy syrup and served with freshly whipped cream or vanilla ice-cream &
butterscotch sauce)
. Oh my god!!!!!both desserts taste like heaven. Love them so much. Both if us were smiling while enjoying every single bite of the desserts. They are really superb and marvellous.

We ended the dinner by having Irish coffee for my hubby and cafe latte for me. We ended our night with big smiles and great feeling. It was a really great and superb place to eat. Food is great and the people are amazing. We will definitely come back to this restaurant. Opppsss.....did I not mention the name of the place...oh well...want to keep it suspense till the end. The place that we went that night is called.........
